Counting On Jill Dillard and her husband, Derick Dillard are having a tense rift with the Duggar family. Fans watched Jill grow up on 20 Kids and Counting. It was always assumed she would follow in her mother’s and sisters’ footsteps. However, she has been attending therapy, setting her own rules, and even got a nose ring. Jill says that staying distanced is best for her family.
Not On The Best Of Terms With Duggar Family
In a YouTube Q&A video, Jill confirmed that there is tension with the Duggar family. She said that they are keeping their distance and there have been disagreements. She feels that minimizing contact is what is best for her family right now.
“We’re doing what’s best for our family right now and just working through it, I guess.”
Even though she confirmed that something happened, the 29-year-old did not explain what caused the rift. Jill explained that she and her husband would like to keep those details private.
Jill Duggar Working Toward Healing
Even though things are tense between the Dillards and Duggars, the former Counting On star hopes that things will get better in the future. She said,
“There’s been some distancing there. We’re not on the best terms with some of my family. We’ve had some disagreements, but we’re working towards healing definitely and restoration, but we’re having to kind of just take some time and heal.”
Counting On Exit Explained
Another topic that Jill touched on is their exit from the 20 Kids and Counting spin-off, Counting On. It was speculated that Derick was fired in 2017 for his statements about transgender activist Jazz Jennings. However, Jill indicated that they left the show on their own and the public backlash wasn’t a factor in their decision.
Jill added that they discovered that they didn’t have complete control or freedom over their lives. Their family goals didn’t match up with “what we found out.”
Derick Dillard: We Have Our Lives Back
The husband and father explained that there are no regrets and they have their lives back. He explained,
“We will not go back on the show under the circumstances that we were under at the time that we left. Meaning just as a family, we have to be able to make decisions that allow us to navigate our lives and have the information and control so that we know whether or not we can even plan anything… We have our lives back now.”
